In a world, full of contrasts, we see amazing beauty and acts of kindness but also violence and fear. Questions people want to ask and explore range from “Is this it?” to “Why is everything so messed up?” Well over 2 million people in the UK have attended an Alpha course which is intended as a place for those who want to explore these deeper questions of life.
We are now entering our second year of running Alpha courses and so far more than 75 people have taken the opportunity to get to know others over a meal; listen to a presentation about a particular aspect of Christianity and then discuss the issues that arise in smaller groups. We aim for a relaxed atmosphere, where everyone is valued for the contribution they make – we learn together as we explore these issues.
We have changed venues to St Columba Church on Hillson Drive for our next course which will meet on Saturday mornings over breakfast through October, November and part of December. There is also an ‘Away Day’ on 22nd November when we will be going to nearby Shedfield. The ‘launch’ of the course begins, however, on Friday 3rd October with drinks being served from 7.15pm with a 7.30pm start. The breakfasts then begin the following week on 11th October at 9am.

The Alpha course consists of a series of talks looking at topics such as 'Who is Jesus?' and 'Why and how do I pray?' After each talk we divide into small groups for a time of discussion.
Alpha is for everyone, especially:
There is no charge for the Alpha course, although you may make a voluntary contribution towards food.
