'The Oasis' Room Dedication, Fareham College

On Monday 12th December 2005, 'The Oasis' Room at Fareham College, Bishopsfield Road, was officially opened by the Revd Bill Day, Rural Dean of Fareham. This is a new multi-faith quiet room for staff and students and will also be used as the Chaplain's Office.

Vice Principals Nigel Duncan and Alex Johnstone attended as well as Gareth Denby the Diocesan Advisor for Further Education, together with staff and students.

Clergy from 'Fareham Churches Together' and representatives of other faiths in the area were present and took part in the ceremony.

The dedication of 'The Oasis' represents a fresh beginning for the spiritual life of Fareham College, and our hope for the future is that the love of God which we share will be at the centre of all that we do. The room will be available throughout the week as a place set aside from the hustle and bustle of college life for prayer, rest and reflection. In addition multi-faith facilities have been provided to make it available for as wide a range of people as possible. Christian Union members will use the room for meetings and a small library of relevant books and CD's has been provided.

The Dedication was followed by an informal Carol Service with keyboard accompaniment by Peter Hall in the College Mall. This was attended by some 70 people, including children from the on-site nurseries.
